The breaking of piñatas is a birthday tradition in Latin America inherited from the Spanish. However, it differs from country to country. In some, the bottom part of the piñata has strings that, when pulled, release the filling of candies and toys. In others, as in Mexico, the piñata is hit with a stick by a blindfolded person until it breaks. Ask a classmate to help you make a piñata to celebrate el cumpleaños de tu hermana. This weekend, your family has decided to have fun together and get to know San Antonio, one of the major cities in Texas. On Saturday, you will go on a virtual tour of San Antonio's Riverwalk! Enjoy the sights and decide what each member of the family wants to do. Then, on Sunday, you will pay a detailed visit to The Alamo and learn about its historic significance for the state of Texas. With four other classmates, form the family group: tu madre y tu padre, tu hermana/o y tu abuela/o. Converse as follows:
Padre: ¿Están listos para comenzar el tour?

The Alamo is one of the most important historical sites in Texas because of the famous battle that took place there. In what year did it take place? What were the names of the three leaders who died there fighting for the independence of Texas? Who was the generalísimo that led the Mexican army? What was the Alamo originally? In Spanish, ask the different members of tu familia what they liked best in the tour.
