Most teachers are familiar with Howard Gardner's concept of the seven intelligences. Kim Chase, a middle school teacher, has created a humorous list of other intelligences that she has observed in her students. These include the Self-Oblivious Intelligence. Funny noises in your classroom-foot scraping, desk kicking, tapping, babbling-are all signs of the self-oblivious soul, particularly when accompanied by such protestations as "Stop what?" Teachers may recognize many of these other intelligences in their own students.
